Clear, Easy to Understand Lessons

Crystal clear in fact. Learning character drawing and how to draw people effectively means having information presented in a logical and coherent way. The Character Academy Course is modular by design, easy to grasp, and allows you to learn in a well paced, structured way. Engage in the course chronologically, then revise each module at your leisure. Grasp concepts, such as how to draw lips, eyes, faces, and more, faster than you ever have before – there’s no fluff here.

Assignments that are Rewarding

Bridging the gap between theory and practice, each module’s assignments have been designed to both reinforce theory, and feel rewarding. I’ve taken the core of the theory, and purpose built each assignment to help you rapidly progress, and you’ll see the difference in your own work almost immediately. Art is about doing, so let’s get started- let’s draw something awesome!

Student Reviews

Even when the course focuses heavily on theory(which is a good thing). The application of those theories have been nothing short of amazing! the exercises are clear, organized and meant to help with growth. Thank you for making me have hope that I can actually draw after all.
Fahad Alghamdi

It is perhaps one of the best drawing courses that I have seen. It’s every bit as comprehensive as any college introductory course on drawing that I ever took.
John Barnes

My initial review is below, unedited. This is my update at 79% completion.

I have continued to practice some of the fundamentals demonstrated in the course and described in module assignments during the week and a half since I posted my initial review.

A few weeks ago I couldn’t draw people at all, and I often just didn’t draw in my sketch book because I just didn’t know what to put in it and/or didn’t have the time to track down something to try and sketch.

This course has me confidently filling page after page now with rough sketches of different kinds now. As a result, I have a more confident and relaxed relationship with my sketch book.

I’ve also taken some time to compare the instructor’s approach to some other instructors covering similar content. By comparison, he’s well-organized, provides plenty of examples of most core topics, and gets you doing practical work immediately.

Typically I don’t care to rate these courses until after I’ve finished them (*if* they’re engaging enough and useful enough to even finish), but I’m making an exception here.

I’m 37% complete in terms of watching the videos, but my figure drawing is already dramatically better from the practical instruction provided in the course.

The overwhelming majority of the content is driven by step-by-step examples demonstrating and explaining how to draw characters better. Period.

I watch the videos with a sketch pad and pencil or pen handy, and just draw better.
